Please note – this trip is not run by the WJHS or the WJHS PTO!

Dear 7thGrade Parents,

It’s time to book your child’s trip to Washington D.C. Early registration for next year’s 8th Grade Washington D.C. trip will close November 15th, 2021!

When is the trip?

The trip will take place November 19th-22nd, 2022, which is the first weekend of Thanksgiving break.

What is the price and what does the trip price include?

The trip costs approximately $1,785 and covers everything~ airfare, food, lodging, admissions, ground transportation. Only additional money needed would be for souvenirs, extra expenses.

We have holiday plans, so can my child make alternate plans for the return trip?

In the past we have had families meet their child in DC, or make a connecting flights to other locations, but a waiver form needs to be filled out. If you know this will happen, please let them know when registering so you won’t be charged for a return flight.

What will my child experience?

Pretty much everything there is to see and do in DC, as well as driving down to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia and Jamestown. Monuments/memorials, Smithsonian museums, Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, Capitol tour, Mount Vernon, etc. We pack about as much as we possibly can in four days and are taken to the destinations on a private coach bus.

Can my child select who they room with?

Once registration closes, families will receive a roommate request form. They will choose the names of the people they want to room with and I go through the forms. I do my best to honor the choices, but not everyone will be perfectly happy. It all depends on the requests I receive.

Is financial assistance available?

In short, possibly! World Strides offers the FLAG financial assistance program, which your family can apply for. If you qualify, it could be made available. Call 1-800-468-5899 to apply.

What’s the best way to register?

Online at http://www.worldstrides.com (use trip ID #199281) or-Call 1-800-468-5899. World Strides can also answer questions here regarding payment plans, EZpay, etc.

Please email me at paul.w.harper@gmail.com with any questions. WJHS, including the office staff and administrative team, are not connected to the trip. I am more than happy to help in any way.
