BROADWAY PERFORMERS
Are you missing the chance to perform in a Broadway musical? Join Skyline Studios and let your creativity take flight in The Lion KingJr. for 7-8th graders. Bring your acting to the next level by working on character development, vocal technique, and choreography. By the end of class, you’ll be ready to take center stage and shine as one of the stars in The Lion King!
Class Expectations
No make-up classes will be offered, and actors are required to be at every practice unless there is some significant reason. Actors are required to bring their scripts to every rehearsal. Please help your child practice and memorize their lines at home so that your actor feels confident on stage. Rehearsals are closed (no parents or guests watching). CHESS-ED
Chess-Ed is excited to be hosting After School Chess-Ed at WJHS. In providing this unique, exciting and dynamic chess instruction, our goal is to always lift each student to a new level of expertise. Each week students will enjoy an engaging lesson with supervised time to play classmates. Students will grow their knowledge of the game—from the basics through opening theory, middle game tactics and end game combinations. Students’ vocabulary and math skills will continue to advance.
Studies confirm that the student who plays chess does better academically. Playing chess increases IQ performance, improves memory, uses analytical and critical thinking skills, and teaches problem solving, responsibility, sportsmanship, social skills and more. The chess program is open to all students in all grades and of all playing levels. JOIN TODAY!

DEBATE CLUB – ADVANCED DEBATE
Where you’ll learn to think fast and speak well! Learn research, writing, and oral argumentation. All programs consist of weekly class sessions held at HMS for 60 minutes with supplemental debate activities. All programs conclude with a 2-hour session to give students an opportunity to demonstrate their new skills in full debates. Grades 5–8. This program is only for debaters who HAVE done debate before.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS CLUB
Calling all D&D enthusiasts! We are running an afterschool club for all students interested in Dungeons & Dragons. Whether you’ve played before or only know it from the popular T.V. show Stranger Things, D&D is an incredibly creative game that is fun to play and easy to learn! Even if you’ve never played before, this club is the perfect place to learn about the game. We will go over all the basics and run exciting campaigns, some even homebrew! Bring your dice, bring your friends, and get ready to roll for initiative! If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Mr. Kohring. Grades 7–8.

HIGH FIVE JUNIOR CHOIR CLUB – SESSION 2
The Wilmette High Five Junior Choir provides a safe learning environment in which students of all abilities come together to create and experience music, build friendships, and raise awareness against stereotypes of differently-abled people. This club is based off of the High-5 Choir that is offered at New Trier High School. The Wilmette High Five Junior Choir aims to share the love of music with peers regardless of abilities, share our voices through music, and have a lot of fun!
Club Meets: Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m., for students in grades 5-8

LATIN CLUB
Attendite Students of Latin! Latin Club will be going strong this fall with a fabulous round of activities. We will craft barbarian booties and race down the majestic halls of WJHS for prizes. Engineer buildings of Ancient Rome with Twizzlers and potato chips, while enjoying the delights of the pomegranate. We will partake in the joys of the most fabulous 1981 version of Clash of the Titans, celebrate Halloween by carving mythological pumpkins, build rods and fasces, and more! We will always meet in Magistra’s classroom and sometimes move to other areas of the building for space and cleanliness purposes! Latin Club is only open to Latin students!

LATIN CERTAMEN CLUB
Hey Latin students! Are you interested in heated competition related to all things Latin, Roman, and mythologically themed? Certamen is for you! In 7th grade we will meet on Tuesdays during the luncheon period in Magistra’s room to practice the fine art of Certamen (Latin Quiz Bowl) with our buzzer machine. 8th grade students meet during lunch recess with Magistra for quick practice and honing of the their Certamen talents. We have three after-school meets a year against opposing schools where we will hopefully crush the competition!
